Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy explains what happens to your information when you play The Sunken Crown (the “game”, an Android app with the package name com.thimios.sunkencrown) or visit sunkencrown.eu (the “site”).

The short version. The game has no accounts and does not send your progress to our servers. Your save data stays on your phone. The only data that leaves your device is handled by Google: rewarded ads (Google AdMob) and purchases (Google Play Billing). This site uses no cookies and no analytics.

Who is responsible

The person responsible for your data (the “data controller”) is Thimios, Chania, Crete, Greece, an individual independent developer. You can contact me at efthimispetrakis@gmail.com about anything in this policy.

What data the game uses

1. Game data on your device

Your progress, settings and unlocks are saved in the game’s private storage on your phone. I do not receive this data and cannot see it. It is deleted when you uninstall the game or clear its storage.

2. Rewarded ads (Google AdMob)

The game offers optional rewarded video ads, for example to revive after a defeat or to double gems at the end of a run. Ads are served by Google AdMob. When an ad is requested or shown, Google may collect and process information such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and operating system details, and how you interact with the ad. I do not receive this personal data; I only receive aggregated reports (impressions, revenue). In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google’s consent form before ads are loaded, and you can change your choice later in the game’s settings. Learn how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3. In-app purchases (Google Play Billing)

Purchases such as gems and the Adventurer’s Pass are processed by Google Play. Google handles your payment details; I never see your card or account numbers. I receive confirmation that a purchase happened (order ID, product, date, country) through the Google Play Console, which I need for accounting and to handle support requests. The game also checks with Google Play which purchases your Google account owns so your purchases can be restored.

4. Technical reports from Google Play

If you have allowed it in your Android settings, Google Play may share crash and performance reports (“Android vitals”) with me. These contain technical details such as device model, Android version and the error that occurred. They are not linked to your name.

5. When you contact me

If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to answer you and keep it for as long as needed to resolve your request, normally no longer than 24 months.

6. This website

The site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or third-party fonts or scripts. Like any web server, the hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request details in technical server logs to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. I do not have access to a list of visitors.

What I do not do

The game does not ask you to create an account, does not ask for your name, email, phone number or contacts, does not use your precise location, microphone or camera, and does not read your files. I do not sell your personal information and I do not build profiles of players.

Why the data is processed (GDPR legal bases)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the legal bases are: contract (providing the game and your purchases, Article 6(1)(b)); consent (advertising identifiers and personalised ads, Article 6(1)(a), which you can withdraw at any time); legitimate interests (answering support requests and keeping the game and site secure, Article 6(1)(f)); and legal obligation (keeping accounting records for purchases, Article 6(1)(c)).

Who receives data

Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the game: Google (AdMob, Google Play, Google Play services) and my website hosting provider. Google may process data in the United States and other countries; where this involves a transfer from the EEA, Google relies on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. I do not share data with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long data is kept

Game data stays on your device until you remove it. Purchase records in the Google Play Console are kept for as long as Google and the law (accounting rules in Greece) require. Support emails are kept as described above. Data held by Google is governed by Google’s own retention policies.

Your rights and choices

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because I do not hold game data about you, these rights mostly apply to emails you have sent me and are exercised by writing to efthimispetrakis@gmail.com. For data held by Google, use the controls Google provides. Practical steps:

  • Ads consent: change it in the game’s settings (where the consent form is offered) or use Settings → Google → Ads on your Android phone to reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation.
  • Delete game data: uninstall the game or clear its storage. See Data & deletion.
  • Complaints: you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Greece this is the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (for example California), you have similar rights to know, delete and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. I do not sell personal information for money; ads are delivered by Google as described above, and you can opt out of ad personalisation in your Android settings.

Children

The game is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. In some countries the minimum age for consent to data processing is higher (up to 16). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me and I will help remove it.

Security

Because I collect almost no personal data, there is little to protect, but the data I do receive stays within Google’s secured services and my own email account.

Changes to this policy

If the game starts using new services or data, I will update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live. Material changes will also be mentioned in the game’s update notes.
